On my return home from Houston, I had fun playing with the oil pastels in Artset Pro, drawing aspects of what I saw in front of me. Exit and safety were on my mind! I was so involved the flight went by quickly, and as we were descending I painted a quick sky in Sketchbook Pro before we were asked to shut down our electronics!
Had a fun weekend at Surfside, Texas and sketched en Plein Air with a friend. It was cool and windy and we sat outside, painting from the upstairs balcony. The reflection on the iPad screen meant I couldn’t always see my sketches as I worked on them, but it helped me simplify my choices and focus on the colors and shapes.
Heading south to warmer weather, I had a window seat with a great view; the person to my right spent the whole flight working.
I arrived home from Australia to find that the bulb I had planted last year in a pot not knowing what it was had grown and bloomed. It’s a spectacular Amaryllis flower!
I travelled to a friend’s farm in Euroa on the weekend, and had time to sit in the shade and sketch the view.
Roses in a glass, iPad sketch
These Roses were a nice surprise from my neighbor when I arrived in Melbourne. Roses are a popular garden plant here, surviving well in the recent drought conditions.
This was drawn in mostly oil pastel using Art Set Pro edition on my iPad. I was inspired by some beautiful table decorations at a dinner function I went to recently.
Driving back home from the airport, I enjoyed the wide expanses of snow and the pops of color from the red barns. I snapped a few photos for reference, then when I got home and looked at the mostly grey landscape, I thought of my black and white photography class, where we developed black and white prints, then colored them with pens. This painting came from the idea of colored black and white prints.
It is a hand painted digital photo using Artset Pro edition.
