Vase of Roses. I am enjoying using Artset Pro Edition, mixing watercolour, oil pastel and markers!
I was fortunate enough to attend a Japanese tea ceremony last week, and loved the beautiful kimonos and the gracefulness of the procession of movements.
I couldn’t sketch while observing like I normally do, so instead snapped a few quick photos with my iPhone, then composed this sketch the next day using key elements of the photos as reference. I used Artset Pro, and my new Adonit Jot Touch.
Another iPad painting before the leaves fell! I am using my new iPad air and experimenting with a few different painting and drawing apps!
I found some old fabric, cut and sewn into patchwork shapes, ready to be joined together, and played around with some pen and ink and watercolor sketches. Lots of memories of clothes we used to wear as the fabric was left over scraps from when we used to make all our clothes!
I bought a travel watercolor block set recently, and was inspired to play around with some ink and watercolor work. This one is of Hughie, my daughter’s dog, named after Hugh Jackman! This is just a small 4x6 sketch.
I sketched Sunflowers while I was in Houston last week. It was hot and humid outside, perfect weather to sit and sketch inside!
As it’s Mother’s day, I started thinking about this small piece that I made a few years ago in memory of my Mum. She was a needlework teacher, and taught me how to sew at a very young age. I can still remember the excitement of choosing the fabric that would then become a piece of clothing. We grew up in an age without internet, an age of waiting for letters, a lot of freedom and a different pace of life.
I used a piece of an old wooden letterbox as the frame for this assemblage, and then added other found objects and handmade paper.
